Christelo Gerard

Christelo is the director of the Society Of The Arts, a thriving community hub for artists nestled in the scenic landscapes of Rockland County, New York. Born in Port au Prince Haiti and raised in the vibrant artistic scene of New York City, Christelo's passion for fostering creativity and community engagement has been ingrained in him from a young age.

After obtaining a certification in cosmetology from Empire Beauty School, Christelo immersed himself in various artistic endeavors, working with galleries, museums, and art festivals across the city. However, it was his deep-rooted connection to the serene beauty and close-knit atmosphere of Rockland County that ultimately drew him back to his roots.

In 2016, Christelo spearheaded the founding of the SOTA Art Collective, envisioning it as a space where emerging and established artists alike could come together to collaborate, exhibit, and inspire one another. Under his leadership, the collective has flourished into a vibrant hub of creativity, hosting regular exhibitions, workshops, and community outreach programs.

Christelo's dedication to nurturing local talent and promoting the arts has earned him an Award of recognition from Rockland County executives. He is known for his innovative approach to curating exhibitions, his unwavering support for emerging artists, and his commitment to making art accessible to all. Beyond his role as director of the collective, Christelo is also an accomplished filmmaker in his own right, with his work exploring themes of identity, relationships, and the natural world. His productions have won film festivals throughout New York and have garnered praise for their emotive depth and vibrant energy. Driven by his passion for the arts and a love for the community, Christelo continues to lead the Society Of The Arts with boundless enthusiasm, inspiring creativity and fostering connections among artists and art enthusiasts alike.
